Hiking the Alberta Rockies - The Blue Rock Creek Trail
Blue Rock Creek is west of Turner Valley in the Kananaskis Country. To get there you drive to Highway 22X on the south end of
Calgary, and then go west. Take the left turn to Turner Valley and follow the highway to the four way stop in Turner Valley. Turn right
and then follow the road (sheep river trail) until you get to the Blue Rock Equestrian Campground. Park in the day use area and then
follow an old logging road until you come to a clearing with a picnic table in it. Just past the clearing there is a trail to the right which goes
down to blue rock creek (approx 472 meters drop in elevation) and then up the other side (approx 625 meters gain) to blue rock
mountain. The trail is an intermediate hike with about 1100 meters total elevation gain. At the top of the pass the views are spectacular
and there are several different lookouts that can be climbed to.
