The Galatea Lakes are found in the Kananaskis Country about a 1.5 hour drive west of Calgary. Travel south on highway 40 from the Trans
Canada, when you pass the Kananaskis Golf Course look for the Galatea Lakes Parking lot on the West side of the road. Follow the path
down to the bridge and cross the Kananaskis River. The trail follows Galatea Creek up into a mountain basin. It is approximately 6.5 Km (4
miles) to Lillian Lake with an elevation gain of 492 meters. Lillian Lake is a nice spot to sit, swim, fish or just explore. There is a There is an
additional 183 meters gain over the next 1 Km to reach the first Galatea Lake. Follow along the trail on the North side of the Laketo the end
and go around the ridge to find the second Galatea Lake. For the return trip we stayed on the sheep trails on the south side of the lake all
the way back to Lillian Lake. The views are beautiful and well worth the effort of going back to the second lake.
